With extensive national experience and a proven track record in all key disciplines, our goal is to create a world-class organization that sets the standard of excellence in the treatment of speciality behavioral health and addiction disorders.

Trey Carter, President and Chief Executive Officer


Trey Carter joined Acadia Healthcare as President and CEO in April 2007. Mr. Carter is a seasoned executive with over 14 years of experience in the psychiatric and behavioral healthcare industry. Prior to joining Acadia, Mr. Carter served as Regional Vice President of Operations, Behavioral Health Division for Universal Health Services. Mr. Carter also served as CEO of Anchor Hospital located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Throughout his career Mr. Carter has served in executive level management positions in both for-profit and not-for profit healthcare systems.

Karen Prince, Chief Operating Officer


Karen Prince is a senior level executive with an extensive 20 year background in behavioral healthcare operations and development with a proven track record in Strategic Planning, Forecasting, Census and Program Development. In her role with Acadia, Ms. Prince is responsible for overseeing the organizations facility based operations in addition to the Company's growth and development efforts. Prior to joining Acadia, Ms. Prince held executive level management positions with Universal Health Services and Charter Medical Corporation.

Danny Carpenter, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer


Danny Carpenter is a senior level executive with over 20 years of senior level financial leadership experience within the healthcare industry. Mr. Carpenter has successfully guided companies through operations, acquisitions and integrations, as well as capital management.

Prior to joining Acadia, Mr. Carpenter held senior level leadership positions with various companies. Mr. Carpenter served as Vice President of Corporate Finance with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Chief Financial Officer for one of Emory Healthcare's operating units, and various management positions with Charter Behavioral Health Systems during his 13 year tenure.

Robert Swinson, VP of Financial Operations


Robert Swinson is a seasoned executive with a proven track record in facility operations, profit enhancement and operational efficiencies in the Behavioral Healthcare field. Mr. Swinson joined Acadia Healthcare as Corporate Controller with the primary responsibility of ensuring profitability, policy compliance and accurate financial reporting. Throughout Mr. Swinson's 20-year career, he had held various senior level financial positions within Universal Health Services, Charter Medical Corporation and Tenet Healthcare.

Tom Dodd, Vice President of Clinical Services


Tom Dodd is a health care professional with more than twenty-five years post graduate experience in designing, implementing and monitoring health treatment protocols and management systems. Throughout Mr. Dodd's 25-year career in behavioral health, he has had extensive involvement in corporate level clinical operations, multi-system consultation, strategic planning and account management activities. Mr. Dodd is an effective clinical leader with a strong commitment to quality patient care and customer service.

Michael Wellons, Vice President of Development


Michael Wellons is a senior level executive with an extensive 40 year background in the psychiatric and behavioral healthcare industry with a proven track record in Corporate, Business and Program Development. Prior to joining Acadia, he was Executive Vice President of Elements Behavioral Health, a west coast headquartered private equity backed company that acquired Promises Treatment Centers in 2008. Before Elements, he was Senior Vice President of Aspen Education Group where he was responsible for leading the acquisition team effort for 8 years across 3 youth behavioral health/education divisions. Previous to his period at Aspen he held a variety of senior leadership positions in the United Kingdom spanning two periods each of eight years of residency there, including responsibilities as Director of Youth Services Division of Priory Hospitals, Managing Director of the European Division of Charter Medical Corporation and Vice President of Charter Medical International. Michael Wellons received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia. He received his Masters of Business Administration from Georgia College.
