Acadia Montana is a 92 bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility serving children and adolescents in three separate units: children from 5 to 12; adolescent girls from 13 to 18; and adolescent boys from 13 to 18, in need of assistance with co-occurring behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric disorders. Rooms are generally semi-private with each resident being assigned a roommate. Our fully accredited on campus school operates year around for all residents.
Acadia Montana is located in Butte, Montana, one of the most colorful and historic towns in the New West. Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, Butte is in close proximity to the “Big Sky” ski resort and Yellowstone National Park.
Treatment Program
Acadia Montana has Residential Treatment Programs for children and adolescents ages 5 – 18. All programs offer seven-day-a-week programming and are highly structured in order to provide residents with the intensive treatment services they need.
Unlike standard 28 or 30-day treatment programs, the treatment plans and regimes at Acadia Montana are individualized to meet the unique recovery needs of each resident. The length of stay and structure of the treatment plan will depend entirely on the severity and nature of the resident’s disorder(s), and the resident’s rate of progress towards his or her treatment goals. Typically, our patients require 3-6 months of care to meet their goals. Our patients participate in the development and on-going revision of their treatment plans. All treatment plans contain a full schedule of individual, group, family, and specialized-track sessions, school attendance, and recreational therapy. The specific interventions and objectives included in the treatment plan are unique to the individual and his or her needs.
In addition to face-to-face therapy, we believe that participation in positive recreational and leisure activities plays an important role in our patient’s recovery. Time to play, both as individuals and as team members, is built into the Acadia Montana daily model.
Level System
Acadia Montana utilizes a Behavioral Modification or “Level System” in addition to our therapist-directed treatment services. The Level System is a patient-directed therapeutic model that allows each resident to make changes, take on added responsibilities, and gain privileges as they become ready for them. Acadia Montana’s Level System has three tiers. It is designed to act as an agent for positive change; and reflects the realistic expectations, challenges, and rewards that our residents will encounter as they transition back to home and school. The Level System is an excellent and easily accessible way for the patient and family members to evaluate the progress being made in treatment at Acadia Montana. Residents are provided with a structured environment, where clear expectations are established along with privileges and rewards for accomplishments.
