Acadia Healthcare Hawaii is a 32-bed, mid-to-long-term, community-based residential facility that is located in Hilo, Hawaii. The Facility is licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Health under the division of the Office of Healthcare Assurance (OHCA). Acadia Healthcare Hawaii is a contracted provider for the Department of Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division (CAMHD).
We are also known as Pu'ukamalu, which in Hawaiian, means a "sanctuary of rest and peace between the ocean and the mountains". Pu'ukamalu serves troubled youth from all of the Hawaiian Islands and believes that all youth deserve the opportunity to develop to their full potential. Pu'ukamalu understands the importance of working closely with Hawaii's youth to embrace the rich and diverse history and heritage of the Hawaiian culture. At Pu'ukamalu, we believe that teaching our residents to understand the culture of which they are a part, either through ancestry or through aina (land), will promote a strengthening of the youths' identity, self-esteem and character.
