Why Art Therapy? Art Therapy has been shown to improve a client’s level of functioning by using therapy skills and creativity to address mental health issues including eating disorders, trauma, depression and anxiety. Art Therapy is growing as a field and being integrated into many settings including behavioral health treatment. McCallum Place and similar facilities across the country have been offering Art Therapy along with other mental health treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic Behavior Therapy (CBT).

This presentation seeks to educate participants on what Art Therapy treatment for people with eating disorders can look like based on the current literature, why Art Therapy can be an effective treatment for patients with Eating Disorders, and how Art Therapy can integrate with other Eating Disorder treatments.
