Why Consider Treatment
There are a number of reasons why the treatment providers within Acadia’s network have earned the trust of so many patients. We offer immediate interventions for patients who are suffering from acute mental health and addiction concerns. Through our innovative, evidence-based programming, individuals can receive the life-changing care they need to rebuild healthy lives.
When individuals receive care at one of our inpatient facilities, they enter a safe environment where they will be treated with the utmost respect and compassion. Patients are monitored round-the-clock by trained professionals and receive consistent support and encouragement from staff members of all disciplines throughout their treatment journey.
The first step in receiving inpatient treatment is to complete a thorough assessment. This process involves gathering pertinent data about the individual, including family history, past trauma, and/or history of mental illness. These factors help determine the most appropriate level of care to meet the individual’s needs. If, after an evaluation, inpatient treatment is considered the best route for the individual, the admissions process will begin.
Upon entering inpatient care, the individual will meet with a team of professionals to develop a treatment plan best suited to meet their unique needs and goals. These tailor-made plans involve a combination of therapeutic practices and interventions, along with support services and a detailed discharge plan upon completion of treatment.
Levels of Care Offered Through Acadia Healthcare
The types of therapeutic interventions that may be incorporated into our patients’ customized care plans may include the following:
Detoxification: When individuals are battling an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol, they may benefit from receiving detoxification services at the beginning of their treatment. By receiving detox services, individuals are able to have any traces of drugs or alcohol safely removed from their systems while in the care of professional staff.
Medication management services: Depending on the individual’s needs, certain psychotropic medications may be implemented into their treatment plan. When this is the case, individuals will meet with a psychiatrist on a regular basis in order to ensure that their medications are benefiting their treatment.
Individual therapy: Individual therapy sessions involve a patient meeting in a confidential, one-on-one setting with a therapist. During individual therapy sessions, patients can process their treatment experiences, address questions or concerns, seek counsel, and celebrate successes as they come.
Group therapy: Group therapy sessions are led by professional staff members who guide relevant topics of discussion. By engaging in group sessions, individuals not only learn about their recovery process, but they can also give and receive support to and from others working toward similar goals.
Family therapy: Many of Acadia’s inpatient programs offer family members of patients the opportunity to engage in family therapy sessions. These sessions are led by professional staff members and provide patients and their loved ones with a safe space to discuss the ways in which mental illness, behavioral problems, and/or substance use issues have affected their family unit. This can also be a time for family members to become educated on the particular struggles that their loved one is facing.
Experiential therapy: Experiential therapies are designed to complement the traditional therapeutic aspects of treatment by providing opportunities to treat the mind, body, and spirit. Examples of experiential therapy options can include yoga, mindfulness training, recreational therapy, music therapy, and art therapy.
Continuing care: From the time an individual enters inpatient care, their treatment team works on creating a thorough discharge plan. The discharge plan ensures that the patient is equipped with the necessary resources to continue their treatment progress. Following inpatient treatment, many individuals benefit from partial hospitalization programming, intensive outpatient programming, or traditional outpatient services, such as therapy sessions or monthly medication management services.
