Beyond the Binary: LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency training touches on a wide variety of LGBTQ+ basic concepts. This includes discussions on privilege, oppression, stress and redefining terms like gender and sexuality. This course seeks to educate on how we can foster inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ people and use best practices and inclusive language in our everyday lives.

LGBT Life Center - Quinci Rockette
Team members from three levels of care - Outpatient, Partial Hospitalization/Intensive Outpatient, and Residential Treatment Center - will come together to answer questions and discuss how different clients may benefit from treatment modalities included in each of these levels. We will close with networking while enjoying light refreshments, coffee and tea.
About Our Speaker, Alex Rago, Ed.S.
Alex Rago, Ed. S. (they/them) is the Training Coordinator for the LGBT Life Center in Norfolk, Virginia. Alex provides educational training and consultation for any group (education, corporate, student group, etc.) looking to create a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ people. Alex received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Lock Haven University (2016), A Master's in Education degree in Human Sexuality Studies from Widener University (2018), and an Education Specialist Certification from Notre Dame of Maryland University (2022). Growing up in a not-so-supportive community, lead Alex to find a passion for training and LGBTQ+ advocacy to help promote inclusive environments where all are welcome.
