SUWS of the Carolinas

About SUWS of the Carolinas

SUWS of the Carolinas is located in Old Fort, North Carolina, and provides wilderness therapy programming for youths ages 10-17. Some of the most common conditions we offer care for include substance use disorders, behavioral concerns, autism spectrum disorder, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Throughout each program, students can benefit from recovery programming, experiential therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and other evidence-based modalities. We pride ourselves on the safety and effectiveness of all the therapies and activities we provide.

What Makes SUWS of the Carolinas Different?

Our campus is situated in the breathtaking Pisgah National Forest, which features vast mountains, waterfalls, and hundreds of miles of trails. We are licensed by the National Forest Service to operate on roughly 60 miles of natural, scenic course located adjacent to our campus. Wilderness therapy is an evidence-based approach to creating enduring change. Phoenix, Seasons, and SUWS Core are programming options that address the behavioral health conditions that can affect young people. Our expert staff includes licensed clinicians, a consulting psychiatrist, a nurse, highly trained field instructors, and therapy dogs.
