How We Work with Referrals

The Children’s Behavioral Solutions (CBS) team empowers healthcare providers and agencies to make the most appropriate referrals for children who need personalized behavioral health treatment.

How We Work with Professionals

The CBS team coordinates the referral process from start to finish, serving as the single point of contact for each person involved in a child’s treatment. We connect the appropriate Acadia facility with the referral source, keeping the parent or guardian updated every step of the way.

When it’s time for the child to enter treatment, we also streamline the admissions process so that referral providers and agencies can place their full attention on their clients’ needs.

How Our Team Is Unique

The CBS team recognizes that professionals and agencies work with families who have a range of needs. They may be working with a child who is navigating the court or foster care system, who has a history of trauma, or whose family is struggling to balance everyday life.

We take the time to understand how a behavioral health concern has impacted the lives of children and their families, recommending treatment that benefits the entire family system.

How We Care for Children

We work with children and adolescents ages 6-21 of all genders to connect them with the most appropriate type and level of care for their needs.

The children we work with are suffering from mental health or substance use concerns that are keeping them from functioning in their daily lives. Some are struggling with severe emotional disturbance, sexually maladaptive behaviors, or self-injurious behaviors.

Our Resource Coordinators have access to a full continuum of age-appropriate programs in Acadia Healthcare’s extensive network, including:

  • Acute hospitalization programming
  • Psychiatric residential treatment facilities (PRTFs)
  • Residential treatment programming
  • Qualified residential treatment programming (QRTP)
  • Therapeutic group homes
  • Partial hospitalization programming (PHP)

How We Coordinate Aftercare

Long-term recovery requires support in the days and months after a child has transitioned out of treatment.

Every Acadia Healthcare facility provides comprehensive discharge plans that are tailored to each child’s specific aftercare needs. The role of the CBS team is to ensure that referral providers and agencies are part of that process.

Our Resource Coordinators facilitate communication between Acadia facilities and referral providers throughout the discharge planning process. By making these vital connections among professionals, we give each child a greater chance of achieving lasting success.
